Reporting in Religion
Student achievement is recognised and celebrated within our school community in a variety of ways including at informal meetings; one on one feedback to students; parent-teacher nights; celebrations of learning; publication of works; exhibitions etc.
Tools for Assessment
Teachers at Holy Spirit are encouraged to use a range and balance of assessment tools which allows teachers to cater for all learners and learning situations, to measure the impact of their teaching and plan for further learning and teaching. Assessment revolves around three core practices, namely,
Students will receive a formal report card at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2. Students will be given an overall achievement for Religious Education based on the BCE reporting framework . This is:
Achieving Well Above the Expected Level
Achieving Above the Expected Level
Achieving At the Expected Level
Achieving Below the Expected Level
Achieving Well Below the Expected Level
Portfolios / Criteria Sheets
Students will also collect a sample of their work in Religious Education. This is kept in their student portfolio and accompanies the students report card. Along with the student work samples are an accompanying criteria sheet. This criteria aims to breakdown the students record of achievement in Religious Education.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parents are invited to the Parent / Teacher Information Evening in early Term 1 and are then given the opportunity for two formal meetings with their child's class teacher each year. The first of these is at the end of Term One and when reporting at the beginning of Term Three.
NB. Parents are always welcome to request an interview to discuss their child's progress or when a need arises.
